The course offered here is called Master in Business Economics. It covers most subjects of an MBA with an additional specialization in Econometrics, and is the only college apart from IIM Ahmedabad offering this. Many of the professors are common with FMS and all of them are very experienced, and yet maintain a strong rapport with the students.

Although the lecture halls aren’t air conditioned, they are quite well ventilated, and well maintained. The excellent auditorium which is air conditioned is common for FMS and DBE. It also shares a common library with the entire South DU campus, and a very good hostel with FMS. Students are given unlimited internet access, but there isn’t wifi internet connectivity on the campus.

The placements show a sharp contrast to the fee structure. The Department of Business Economics, DU probably has the best Return on Investment in the country. Very often they have common placements with FMS which explains why the average salary is about Rs.8,00,000 per annum. Specialized companies like American Express, Deloitte, Crisil, DE Shaw, ICRA and RBI are common hirers at DBE.

Located in the picturesque South campus of Delhi University, the Department of Business Economics is a 20 minute ride from the nearest Metro station which is AIIMS. Alternately you can also get off at Dhuala Kuan. Since it’s on the Airport Express line. A number of DTC buses also drop you right outside the south campus.

The South Campus canteen is hygienic, well maintained, and serves rather good food. Its also quite reasonably priced, so students don’t really have to leave the campus in the search for edible, affordable food. Not that they really get the time anyway.

The average age here is about 23-24, and you’ll find a respectable boy-girl ratio. Previously the crowd used to be primarily from Delhi, but ever since DBE decide to go the CAT way, the number of outstation students has drastically increased.
Students sometimes complain about the extremely busy schedule and rue the fact that they are hardly able to get out of the campus. However, they ensure that there is enough camaraderie among themselves to make for a good couple of years.
