The professors are said to be co-operative and well experienced. Senior professors form the major chunk of the faculty. “Not necessary to take external coaching if you attend lectures regularly” says a student confidently. But if you mess up with them, there have been instances of bad consequences.

There are two huge campuses – One which hosts the Engineering & Management Colleges and one which hosts the Medical Colleges. The Jr. College and Senior College Commerce department is in the former and the Senior College Science department in the latter. The commerce building is nearly completed and infrastructure is up to the mark. The science building is still being constructed and hence the students face a lot of problems with facilities like the library and the reading room. Laboratories are well maintained but are all scattered since the college’s own building is still not completed.

In the Science department eligible students who maintain good academic record with no backlogs are allowed to sit for the campus placements. Commerce students have to find their own way out.

Dr. DY Patil Arts, Science & Commerce College is located right behind the Mumbai Pune highway (old) in Pimpri. Travelling by buses is a little inconvenient, because although a number of buses ply on the highway, the college is a 20 minute walk from the bus stops. A vehicle is always preferable.

There is no canteen near the commerce building which the college can call for itself. Although this may come as a shocker for many students, only hostel-ites get the liberty to use the canteen. Others have to manage somehow. The science department, on the other hand is within the medical college campus and gets to use their canteen.

There is a McDonald’s nearby, where students often hang out. Other than this, there is Big Cinema, E-square, and something called Dakshin. The 'golawala' right outside the college is quite popular. “RR ki Tapri” is another hangout snack joint.

DY Patil College of Arts, Science & Commerce is popular for its crowd in the Pimpri-Chinchwad region. It’s a great mix of all kinds of different people and interact and gel along very well. The boy to girl ratio is a healthy 50:50 in the commerce department and a not-too-bad-for-a-science-college - 60 boys to 40 girls for the Science department.

Various days like Traditional day, Rose day, Saree day and Annual day are celebrated each year. There’s also a trip organised and paid by the college.

The science department is said to be very particular about attendance and a minimum of 75% needs to be fulfilled. Defaulters list are issued and students are expected to make up for attendance by the end of the term, failing which letters are issued to parents, internal marks are affected and in extreme cases “A Year Drop” is given. The commerce department is slightly more merciful-although 75% needs to be maintained, students are let off with warnings.

Its an average college which could a good option for students residing in the Pimpri-Chinchwad region of Pune. Nothing too great about it but nothing too bad about it either.
