When you’re in the best college of the country, the least you can expect is a mind blowing faculty and SRCC lives upto it. All the professors are extremely qualified and have got their degrees from great American and British Universities. The authors of commerce text books are the professors at SRCC. Brilliant, isn’t it? The teachers for Mathematics and Economics are superb and are thoroughly knowledgeable. Students love their lecturers and rarely feel the need to bunk. Lectures are conducted purely in English. In a nutshell, AWESOME! However, the students are getting a feeling that the faculty is degrading because the college is recruiting some new teachers to comply with certain recent norms.

Well, the huge campus of SRCC (pretty famous by this name) has huge trees, beautiful lush green garden and an excellent red brick college building. The air conditioned classrooms have comfortable benches and projectors. The wifi enabled campus has an air conditioned library which is equipped with all the possible subjects within commerce. Students often say that SRCC has the best infrastructure in DU. Isn’t it the best for everything?

In one word, AMAZING! Well, if students don’t get placed here, then where the hell on the earth will they be? Deloitte, McKenzie, Ernst & Young, Google, HSBC, KPMG, PWC and thousand more big names and reputed MNC’s visit the SRCC campus during the placement season. The average pay package offered is around Rs. 6.5 lakhs per annum which is probably the best one can get immediately after graduation. Some take up placements, while most of them appear for Chartered Accountancy exams or Masters in Economics from London.

Located in the North Campus of Delhi University, Shir Ram College of Commerce is situated very close to the second gate of the campus and is easily noticeable by the blue sign boards at regular intervals. The nearest metro station is Vishwavidyala (Yes, the name of the station is because of the university and thus one can understand how famous and reputed the campus is) on the Yellow Line and is a minute walk from the main gate of the campus. There are hundreds of cycle rickshaws right at the gate of the university and outside every college within the North campus which charge you Rs. 10. The DTC bus frequency, especially for the North campus, is pretty awesome and drops you to the college gate at a mere cost of Rs. 10. Some prefer to come by their private vehicles while a few choose to walk to the college. In short, accessibility is not a problem and connectivity is superb.
NOTE: There is a bicycle stand right outside the gate of the university which provides bicycles on a rental basis. The cost is Rs. 10 for four hours. Can’t expect anything cheaper than this!

Okay, after enough of praises about SRCC, here comes one of the drawbacks. The canteen is pretty average with less variety. Even though the food is edible and affordable, students demand a good quality, quantity and various items to be offered. “There is no speciality and we DESERVE a better canteen”, criticizes a boy with economics notes in his hand and a beautiful girl with specks.

At the North campus, you can expect one of the best hangouts in Kamla Nagar Market. There are various coffee chains like CCD and Barista, several fresh fruit juice parlours, chole bhatures roadside and many more. The Ridge is generally jam packed with lovely couples of all the colleges within the campus. J.P tea stall at Delhi School of Economics (DSE) is also a common hangout for all the students. Movie lovers are seen in Plaza at Connaught Place (CP).

As the college is EXTREMELY famous all over the country and probably world, so it attracts students from all parts of India. But since SRCC is affiliated to Delhi University, atleast 70% of the crowd is from Delhi and other parts of NCR. Students from the southern part of India are seen in a good amount in every batch. Though students need almost 100% (literally) in the Higher Secondary Examination, the crowd isn’t that nerd. They balance their academic and non academic activities perfectly. The crowd is obviously very smart and intelligent and they gels with each other very well.

'Crossroads' is the annual cultural festival of Shri Ram College of Commerce, is held in January end or early February. A whopping 20-25 lakhs is spent in organising this 3-day fest, which is one of the biggest festivals celebrated in the University of Delhi and boasts of a performance night where great artists like Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, Kailash Kher, KK perform every year. Another festival called "Ecostosy" is organised for by the Economics department of the college and again observes wonderful participation in events like Quizzes, Debates, GDs, 'Mock Stocks' etc. Numerous other college-level events are also planned by the different committees of the college.

SRCC isn’t that strict when it comes to attendance. Students have to maintain the three years aggregate upto 66% failing which they’ll loose out on the internal marks reserved for attendance. Fortunately, stuffs like withholding admit cards and year backs are not seen in the college. Frankly speaking, students don’t bunk any lecture and thus attendance is maintained regularly. Teachers who personally know students and are aware of their performance in other external courses like CA, CS tend to favour them and allow them further relaxation (as low as 10%).
