INTRODUCTION

Technovanza is the Annual Techno-management Festival organized by VJTI. The motto of Technovanza is to educate people about the principles of Engineering and thus spreading the knowledge of Engineering and Technology to the society at large.

The event’s popularity has grown in leaps and bounds over the years and last year close to 25000 people from all over the country attended the event, leading to its grand success. To the under-privileged students in schools the social initiative, Pratigya inspires them to become innovative engineers of tomorrow and to make Mumbai a better place to live, Mission Mumbai gives innovative solutions as future engineers to empower the society. Reaching out to students, industry and the society in general, Technovanza 2015 promises to be bigger than ever!

1. Guest Lecture Series:

Technovanza is the largest Techno-management festival in Maharashtra organized by the students of VJTI. Some prominent personalities who have made their presence in Technovanza over the past few years are

  • Late Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, Former President of India
  • Ratan Tata, Former Chairman of TATA Group
  • Dr. Kiran Bedi, First Woman IPS Officer
  • Harsha Bhogale, BCCI Commentator
  • Dilip Chhabria, Founder of DC Design
  • Narayan Murthy, Co-founder of Infosys
  •  Mr. Shekhar Basu, Director of B.A.R.C.
  • D.Sivanandhan, Police Commissioner of Mumbai
  • Rahul Yadav, Co-founder and CEO of Mumbai based real estate search portal Housing.com

This year also we hosted the Guest Lecture Series of Technovanza’16:

  • Dr. John C. Mather, a senior astrophysicist at NASA
  • Alan Mamedi, the CEO and Co-founder  of the popular app – Truecaller

2. Start-up fair:

The VJTI Startup Fair is an initiative by Technovanza to encourage the entrepreneurial spirit in young India. It is an endeavor to connect the budding entrepreneurs to venture capitalists and to provide them with the assistance required for their ventures to achieve success. The Startup Fair provides a platform for innovative start-ups from all over the country to get in touch with thousands of potential customers. More than 300 internships will be up for grabs. Last year, over 50 start-ups participated in the Start-up fair.

3. Start-up panel discussion:

Technovanza is introducing a new event where we will invite the founders of some of the most successful start-ups from all over the country. The topic for the panel discussion would be “Indian Start-ups: The big bang theory”. The expected panellists for the discussion are Amit Singh, the co-founder of Head start,, Sunil Mahale, the Vice President of Nutanix and Sandeep Agrawal, the co-founder of Shopclues.

4. Maker’s Square:

Maker's Square is a national event to put up the projects and exhibits ranging from civil, mechanical to robotics, chemical, physics experiments etc. Projects like Hexagon city implemented in Japan and Germany. Following are the confirmed projects:

  • Nerosky Mindwave Mobile
  • Puzzlebox orbit- brain controlled helicopter
  • INDRO Humanoid – India’s Tallest Humanoid completely Made In India
  • Applications of gesture recognition and Ghost Tying for computer controllers
  • SAPER- Visual Inspection of Water Pipes & Document the Extent of Corrosion

5. RCMO:

Rubik's cube Mumbai open along with World cubic association (WCA) welcomes cubers from all over the country to showcase their speed cubing skills at the largest cubing competition in the country. Technovanza has been listed in the Limca Book of World Records for making a Cube Art of Taj Mahal with 7000 cube. Cube arts made of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, Steve Jobs, Sachin Tendulkar, Ratan Tata, Taj Mahal, Nelson Mandela, Harsha and Anita Bhogale has found their way into media articles. With a minimum of half a dozen national records breaking each year at the competition RCMO is Technovanza's flagship event from the last 5 years.

6. Robowars:

An excellent opportunity for robotic enthusiasts to display and improve their skills. It is our Mega Event with prize money of 1.25 lakhs. It had participants from all over the country like Orissa, Chandigarh, Pondicherry, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, etc.

7. Fast and Furious:

Design the fastest and the shrewdest IC engine car and put on your seat-belts to face a white-knuckling race through the roughest arena! From the makers of ‘TECHNOVANZA’ here’s another thrilling real time all-terrain racing competition, race THE FAST AND FURIOUS from across the nation! Let’s put your car-designing abilities and your car’s the strength, power and efficiency of to test..

8. Coding and online events:

Expect ambiguous technological questions, logic & reasoning, various tricky tasks, surprising coding queries, team work & co-ordination and lots & lots of fun. It will test not only your programming skills but your ability to handle pressure, distractions and deadlines .It would be the ultimate test of your concentration skills with every round of it has a programming as well as a physical task associated with it. If you love coding and if you love to face problem that can be solved by coding then this is the right place to do it. Understand the Problems and Solve the Problems by coding it.

9. Open Source Hackathon:

We are pleased to announce the kick start of Open Source Hackathon for 2016 in Association with Life Ray and TCS. Attractive prizes, Internship opportunities plus Goodies await the winners of the contest. The participants also have the opportunity to compete with the best in India and be a part of the annual technical fest at VJTI.

10. Competitions:

  • College Cup: Here we present you the most exciting event in Technovanza 2016 - 'COLLEGE CUP'. Every college from India is eligible to participate in College Cup and for that we are appointing Campus Ambassadors for every college.

  • School Cup: A new initiative by Technovanza giving students an opportunity to explore their abilities and talents through various competitions held like Quriosity, Sixty Seconds to Fame, Science Fair and many other social media contents. Winning school will receive a trophy and prizes.

11. As part of our Social Responsibility, we have undertaken several initiatives like-

  • Pratigya:
    Pratigya is our social initiative wherein we go to schools, NGOs and orphanages to generate curiosity about technology in young minds of students and leave a scientific imprint on their minds. Teaching them how to give aptitude tests, career counselling guidance is also one of our aims this year.

  • Mission Mumbai:
    Through Mission Mumbai, we aim to reach out to the people by providing innovative solutions by the future engineers towards the empowerment of Mumbai. We have targeted problems across the spectrum be it women empowerment, deforestation, redevelopment or highlighting the problems of poor work conditions, awareness of e-waste and many more. Associating with NGOs like Help age India and Make a Difference (MAD)
