It isn’t great. Yes, the classrooms have air-conditioners, but they are meant mainly to lure students, and magically cease to work after a few weeks. Ventilation is quite terrible, and the classes are just about fit to accommodate students. The library is highly dysfunctional, while the ‘auditorium’ is as good as nonexistent.

Located in the wonderfully (and aptly) named Punjabi Bagh area, Guru Nanak Institute of Management and Information Technology is equidistant from Ramesh Nagar, Paschim Vihar and Shivaji Park Metro stations. It isn’t exactly walking distance from any, though, so most students take cycle-rickshaws from the stations. A large number of students also get their own bikes or cars, but beware – thefts aren’t too uncommon.

If you come to GNIMIT with the aim of studying hard, you’ll probably be laughed out of the building. Or beaten up, maybe. No one here really comes to study, and those who do undergo a swift transformation into vagabonds. Showing off loud bikes and modified cars is a daily activity which is taken quite seriously, and small fights are quite commonplace here. It’s not exactly the ideal place for innocent, peace-loving folk.

Placements, by contrast, are quite disappointing. Only about 20-30% of the students get placed, and even they aren’t satisfied. Most of the job profiles offered by the few recruiters like HCL and Infosys are sales-related, and packages offered are shockingly low.

Another good thing about this college is that they aren’t really strict about attendance – if you sweet-talk the professor, you can quite easily get away with just about no attendance. You might have to write a couple of extra assignments, though.
